Scroll to today's date and read the daily portion of Scripture.

The "Life of Christ" reading plan:

  • is designed to roughly coincide with the Roots School of Ministry (RSOM) curriculum.
  • begins its cycle in mid-September.
  • includes Hebrews during Thanksgiving & Christmas breaks (for RSOM).
  • includes Revelation and Isaiah during the summer months (when RSOM doesn't meet).
  • Includes a few short passages that make the most sense inside the RSOM curriculum and that will be repeated in other reading plans.

The "New Testament" reading plan:

  • begins its cycle in the beginning of May.
  • weaves the New Testament letters through the book of Acts so you can read them at the times in the record when they were likely written.
  • excludes Hebrews and Revelation because these are included in the Life of Christ study (and were most likely written after Acts was finished).

The "Old Testament" reading plan:

  • begins its cycle in late January (allowing the death of King Uzziah to correspond to Isaiah 6 in the Life of Christ reading plan).
  • weaves the prophets into the history, showing where they fit in the narrative.
  • occasionally includes a few Psalms when they directly correlate to historical moments in the text.
  • often lists chapters out of order with each other because the biblical authors sometimes gave less attention to chronology than to the message they were communicating. Rest assured, nothing was missed.
  • excludes Isaiah because it is included in the Life of Christ study.
  • excludes Job, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon, and most of Psalms because these are covered in the Wisdom study.

The "Wisdom" reading plan:

  • cycle begins in July, but readers can start anytime (though it is recommended not to start in the middle of Job).
  • covers Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Solomon.
  • A few Psalms (3, 18, 30, 34, 51, 52, 54, 56, 57, 59, 60, 63, 90, 137, 142) are included in the "Old Testament" reading plan so they appear in line with the related history. These are excluded here.
