In this third conversation, the goal is to get serious about presenting the gospel. You’re still going to ask questions, but you may do more talking this time than in previous conversations. Hopefully by now the person has spent enough time with you to have experienced meaningful expressions of love and compassion. If so, this won’t come across as “preachy” but rather as an expression of your heart. If you haven’t shared your testimony or the gospel yet, now is the time to do it.

Who’s Your Family?

Possible openers:

  • Who in your life has most influenced your lifestyle and the ways you make decisions? Why do you think they had such a profound influence?
  • They say you can look at your three closest friends and see the trajectory of your life. Who are the people you think presently have the strongest influence on your future? Where do you think they’re taking you?

Objectives:

  • Help the person think about the purpose and power of relationships.
  • Help the person consider the actual value of the relationships they hold most dear.

Which Kingdom is Yours?

Possible openers:

  • Learn the “two kingdoms” gospel presentation (https://youtu.be/L_0QcXfQmL0), and share it with the person. A
  • Minister healing, either to the person or to a stranger while you’re hanging out with the person. Let them internally process what they saw and ask you questions. Talk to them about the Kingdom of God.
  • Share testimonies of healings or miracles you’ve witnessed. Discuss how these things are part of God’s kingdom while the rest of the world is under the influence of spiritual darkness. Tell your friend that they were created to be a light.

Objectives:

  • Help the person see the reality and importance of the spiritual world.
  • Help the person identify the differences between God’s kingdom and spiritual darkness.
  • Help the person recognize their need to follow a different King.

Are You Ready to Follow Jesus?

Possible openers:

  • What do you think of Jesus?
  • What sorts of changes do you think Jesus would make to your life if you would let Him? DO you want those changes? Why or why not?
  • After all that you’ve seen and heard from me since we’ve known each other, what questions or concerns still stand in the way of choosing to live for Jesus the rest of your life?

Objectives:

  • Help the person be honest about his or her hesitancy, or help them see that they are not hesitant and are ready to make a decision today.
  • Identify (through active listening) whether or not you’ve adequately communicated the gospel to the person. If not, bring clarification.
  • Come to a respectful understanding of the person’s interest or non-interest in Jesus.
